The Supreme Court (SC) has confirmed that the Pasig Regional Trial Court received threats sent via emails targeting judges.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, SC spokesperson Camille Ting said security measures were put in place to secure the judges and court personnel.
“The Court is taking this matter seriously and is closely monitoring the situation. An investigation is underway, in coordination with law enforcement authorities. Appropriate security measures have also been put in place to ensure the safety and protection of the judges, court personnel, court users, and the general public,” the statement read.
The SC reiterated its commitment to uphold judicial independence, saying “judges will continue to carry out their duties with integrity and calm resolve, guided by fairness and the rule of law.”
The high tribunal also urged the public and all concerned stakeholders to remain vigilant and continue supporting the judicial process with trust and respect.
The alleged threats were received by the Pasig court on Wednesday morning.
Among the popular cases pending before the Pasig RTC are those filed against former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and controversial televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
