The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) on Thursday called for investigation on the alleged irregularities at the Tacloban City Jail for women, including delays in providing medical care and violations of lawyer-client confidentiality.
According to NUJP, community journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio and lay worker Marielle Domequil have reportedly experienced delays and inaction on their request for medical check-ups.

They also charged that jail officers take photos of documents provided by their lawyers, while letters from friends and relatives were screened and withheld from them altogether.
“As if being held for more than five years on trumped-up charges is not enough.” The NUJP lamented.
