The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Signal No. 1 in several Luzon areas as Tropical Depression ‘Crising’ maintained its strength on Thursday morning.
In a weather bulletin issued at 5:00 AM on July 17, PAGASA warned of strong winds in the following locations:

“The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone,” the weather bureau said in its advisory.
Heavy rainfall measuring 50 to 100 millimeters, meanwhile, is expected over the following provinces:
– Catanduanes
– Camarines Norte
– Camarines Sur
– Albay
– Sorsogon
– Masbate
– Northern Samar
– Eastern Samar

PAGASA maintained its earlier forecast that ‘Crising’ may landfall over mainland Cagayan either by Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
“Afterwards, it will move west northwestward traversing the northern portion of Northern Luzon, and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday (19 July) evening or Sunday (20 July) morning,” it noted.
The cyclone was last monitored at 535 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon in the Bicol region. It was moving west northwestward at 15 km per hour.
It is expected to reach tropical storm category this Thursday and may further intensify over the Philippine Sea as it approaches northern Luzon.
Weather conditions in other parts of the country are affected by the prevailing southwest monsoon or ‘habagat.’
