The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Signal No. 1 in several Luzon areas as Tropical Depression ‘Crising’ intensified late Wednesday evening.
In a weather bulletin issued at 11:00 PM on July 16, PAGASA warned of strong winds and heavy rainfall in the following locations:
Southern Cagayan
– Gattaran
– Baggao
– Peñablanca
Eastern Isabela
– Maconacon
– Divilacan
– Palanan
– Dinapigue
– San Pablo
– Tumauini
– Ilagan City
– San Mariano
– San Guillermo
– Benito Soliven
– Echague
– Jones
– San Agustin
– Naguilian
– Cauayan City
– Angadanan
– Gamu
– Cabagan
– Reina Mercedes
Northeastern Aurora
– Dilasag
– Casiguran
– Dinalungan
Northeastern Quirino
– Maddela
“The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone,” the weather bureau said in its advisory.
Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds,” it added.
PAGASA maintained its earlier forecast that ‘Crising’ may landfall over mainland Cagayan or Babuyan Islands either by Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
The cyclone was last monitored at 615 kilometers East of Virac, Catanduanes or 630 km Juban, Sorsogon in the Bicol region.
It is expected to reach tropical storm category on Thursday morning and may further intensify over the Philippine Sea as it approaches northern Luzon.
