Filipino-American teenager Yonas Asuncion Kibreab, voice of the main character in Pixar’s Elio, said he hopes the film will help raise awareness of the Filipino community on a global scale.
The 14-year-old actor shared his pride in representing his heritage, saying, “I’m very grateful for that, also to just promote the Filipino community.”

Kibreab, who voices Elio Solis in the Disney-Pixar release, emphasized the importance of representation in mainstream media and hopes his role encourages more opportunities for Filipino talent internationally.
“I want to introduce the Filipino community to the world,” he said.
Elio premiered earlier this year and is streaming on Disney+.
