MTRCB gives “G” rating to docu-film on officer

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has given a “G” or General Audience rating to the trailer of the upcoming docu-drama Sa Likod Ng Tsapa (Behind the Badge), allowing it to be screened in cinemas to viewers of all ages. The trailer chronicles the story of Police Colonel Hansel Marantan, a bemedalled officer known for his service in Luzon and now stationed in Davao.

The film’s all-Davao production team, led by producer-director Editha Z. Caduaya, welcomed the approval, calling it a major boost for regional filmmakers. “This rating means Col. Marantan’s story can reach everyone — young and old — across the country,” Caduaya said.

The film is a dramatized depiction of Col. Marantan’s experiences with betrayal, injustice, and redemption, and explores the internal struggles faced by law enforcers. It also sheds light on broader themes such as political interference and personal sacrifice in public service.

Produced by POP Moviehouse and Newsline Philippines, Sa Likod Ng Tsapa will have its nationwide theatrical premiere on August 13, 2025, with distribution by Solar Entertainment. It is the first Davao-produced film to showcase the life of an Ilocano officer whose career has spanned across the country.

“This approval tells us that stories from the regions matter,” Caduaya added. “We hope this inspires more filmmakers to bring untold Filipino stories to the big screen.”
