The Land Transportation Office has placed under alarm a Toyota Vios with covered license plates in an apparent attempt to skirt the no-contact apprehension policy (NCAP).
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said they have issued a show-cause order to the registered owner based on video evidence that went viral on social media.
“We assure you that these disrespectful people behind this would be held liable under the law,” he said.
The driver was caught operating the vehicle along Taft Avenue while the license plate was concealed by an unauthorized cover to obstruct visibility and evade NCAP.
The registered owner, a Parañaque City-based pharmaceutical firm, has been ordered to appear before the LTO headquarters in Quezon City and bring the driver to explain why his license should not be suspended or revoked under Republic Act 4136.
