Filipino actor Ruru Madrid was named Movie Supporting Actor of the Year at the 53rd Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Entertainment Awards, held recently by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Madrid earned the honor for his performance in the prison drama Green Bones, where he played a pivotal supporting role. This is his first time winning in this category.
The award—based on commercial success and popularity—places Madrid alongside fellow honoree Joross Gamboa, who also received the same award.
Madrid’s win adds to his growing list of accolades, which includes Best Supporting Actor honors from the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Celebrating contemporary Filipino cinema, the Guillermo Mendoza Awards recognize actors, films, and programs based on box-office performance during the previous year.
