Alden Richards hosts GMA Network’s newest program, Stars on the Floor, a dance reality show he describes as unlike anything viewers have seen on local television.
As host, Alden guides the competition and draws energy from it, calling it the most exciting and fulfilling hosting job he’s ever had. He also considers Stars on the Floor the most exciting show he has hosted so far on GMA.
“I’ve never seen anything like this on local TV,” he told Manila Standard Entertainment. “When the concept was presented to us, it immediately felt fresh and different. It’s not just another dance show—it offers something new for viewers.”
He said the energy from the people behind the show plays a big role. “This is the one show that makes me excited to go to taping. From the staff and creatives to the dance authority and the star duos, we’re all in sync. We bring out the best in each other, and I feel that as a host. I work best when I can feed off everyone’s energy.”
As host, Richards connects the judges, the performers, the studio audience, and viewers at home. “My role is to tie everything together. And with the kind of energy this show has, I don’t come home tired. I look forward to the next taping day. I can’t wait for people to see how good this show is.”
Stars on the Floor, GMA Network’s newest primetime dance reality competition, premieres tonight. The show features five celebrity performers paired with five of the most-followed digital dance creators in weekly themed challenges. There are no eliminations, but the duos compete for points as they aim to reach the top of the leaderboard and win prizes for their chosen charities.

The celebrity dancers include Glaiza De Castro, Rodjun Cruz, Faith Da Silva, Thea Astley, and VXON’s Patrick. They are paired with digital creators Zeus Collins, Dasuri Choi, Kakai Almeda, JM Yrreverre, and Joshua Decena.
Each week, the pairs take on themed challenges such as “Dance Style X Movie Genre,” “Dance Style X Props,” and “Dance Style X Sports.” Leading the show’s choreography is MJ Arda, co-founder of the A-Team dance crew. The performances range from hip-hop and ballroom to Latin and jazz.
The judging panel, called The Dance Authority, includes Marian Rivera, who focuses on emotion and stage presence; Pokwang, who began her career as a dancer and choreographer; and Jay Joseph Roncesvalles, the choreographer behind SB19’s performances, who emphasizes technique and creativity.
The show extends online with behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals, and digital exclusives hosted by Sparkle artists Lexi Gonzales and Shan Vesagas.
Stars on the Floor airs every Saturday at 7:15 p.m. on GMA Network.
