The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has commended two Security Screening Officers (SSOs) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for their integrity and swift actions in returning valuable items left behind by passengers bound for Japan on Tuesday, June 24.
SSO Angelus Paliza Jr. discovered a laptop that had been left unattended on a gang chair near the central security screening checkpoint. Without hesitation, he reported the item to his supervisor. Shortly thereafter, a female passenger named Abigail Tengco approached, inquiring about her missing MacBook laptop.
The item was found inside a pouch along with a mouse pad and was returned to Tengco after successfully verifying ownership through password login. Tengco, who was en route to Narita, Japan, on All Nippon Flight NH 820, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to SSO Paliza before heading to her boarding gate.
Another act of honesty occurred when SSO Jeen Iar Mariñas noticed an unattended iPad left on an inspection tray at the screening area. Following standard operating procedures, the device was secured and placed under temporary safekeeping to facilitate its eventual return.
Moments later, a male Japanese passenger named Mr. Kumon Nobuyuki, bound for Osaka via JetStar Flight 3K 769, reported a missing iPad. Ownership was similarly confirmed through password verification. Mr. Nobuyuki expressed his gratitude to SSO Mariñas for her honesty and assistance.
The OTS emphasized that the integrity of their personnel aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. to provide responsive and trustworthy government service, enhancing the passenger experience.
