GMA Integrated News, the news division of Philippine broadcaster GMA Network, announced on Sunday the launch of the 24 Oras Podcast, bringing its flagship newscast to digital audio platforms for wider accessibility.
The podcast, which became avaible on Spotify and Apple Podcasts on June 23, features daily episodes of 24 Oras, anchored by Mel Tiangco, Vicky Morales, and Emil Sumangil on weekdays, and 24 Oras Weekend with Ivan Mayrina and Pia Arcangel. The audio format allows listeners to stay updated on major news stories while commuting, exercising, or multitasking.
Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, senior vice president and head of GMA Integrated News, emphasized the initiative as part of the network’s mission to deliver trusted journalism across platforms.
“We understand our audience consumes news in various ways. By expanding into podcasting, we provide another convenient way for Filipinos to stay informed,” Amoroso said.
The project was developed by GMA Integrated News’ Digital Strategy and Innovation Lab in collaboration with 24 Oras and GMA New Media Inc. Antonio Magsumbol, assistant vice president and cluster head of GMA Integrated News, noted that the adaptation ensures credibility while reaching a broader audience.
“This is a strategic move to repurpose our content for on-the-go listeners, making news more accessible without sacrificing depth,” Magsumbol said.
Bernice Sibucao, senior manager and deputy head of the Digital Strategy and Innovation Lab, added that the podcast aligns with efforts to engage younger audiences.
“It’s about meeting Filipinos where they are—delivering news they can listen to anytime, anywhere,” she said.
