CAAP probes aircraft engine malfunction in Bulacan

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is investigating an incident involving a training aircraft that made an emergency landing in a rice field in Plaridel, Bulacan, on Wednesday morning.

The aircraft, a Piper Tomahawk with Tail No. RPC1085 operated by Fliteline Aviation, was forced to land due to engine failure around 9:30 a.m.

“Both the flight instructor and the student pilot were unharmed and accounted for. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the engine malfunction,” CAAP information officer Bea Bernardo said.

Local police responded to a distress call about an aircraft and subsequently coordinated with aviation authorities after a rescue operation.

Reports showed that the aircraft was being piloted by instructor pilot Valentin Torres III and student pilot David Cabrera during a proficiency flight.
