‘DHSUD to complete this year houses for Yolanda victims’

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Sunday vowed to finish all the remaining permanent housing projects for victims of super typhoon “Yolanda.”

Housing czar Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the National Housing Authority (NHA), an attached agency of the DHSUD, has committed to complete the remaining 4,702 housing units under its Yolanda Permanent Housing Project (YPHP) by December.

“It is the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to complete the NHA housing units in Region 8, and we are sure to resolve the problem of the Yolanda housing,” Acuzar said.

The NHA has already completed 53,917 units out of the 58,619 permanent housing requirements under YPHP.

Out of the completed units, a total of 45,454 units were already occupied the beneficiaries.

Qualified beneficiaries of the YPHP received the housing units as grant or at no cost. They inhabited identified hazard-prone areas and were displaced by the onslaught of “Yolanda” in November 2013.
