Duterte supporters to hold nationwide prayer rally

Businessman and PDP bet Cesar Cuntapay, who will challenge Vice Governor De Carlo Oyo Uy’s Congressional bid for the First District of Davao Del Norte, on Thursday said allies and supporters of the Duterte family will hold a nationwide prayer rally on January 13.

Cuntapay told Manila Standard in an interview that there are some changes in their plan of action regarding the protest rally to be set by Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).

He initially planned to fly to Manila to join the rally but later said he would instead stay to join his colleagues in Davao City.

The political aspirant said although it was originally an INC rally, it was decided upon further discussion with supporters that the activity would be a simultaneous rally done nationwide.

“It was decided that we will do it simultaneously so Congressman Napoleon Alvarez most likely will be there too, myself, as well as other supporters of the Vice President and President Duterte, will be joining the Davao protest and prayer rally,” Cuntapay said over the phone, adding that the rally is for peace, justice, and prosperity.

He said they will convene at Coastal Road at 1 p.m. and then start marching at 2 p.m. toward Rizal Park in Davao City.

“With all that is happening in our community, it is the responsibility of every Filipino to address the situation. There is no positive impact on our citizens following the actions of our government, which is why it is right that we let our voice be heard and fight through the form of a prayer rally all the harassment being done to our beloved Vice President Inday Sara (Duterte),” Cuntapy said in a mix of English and Filipino.
