The Philippine National Police-Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) has warned the public against using illegal fireworks or pailawas to celebrate the New Year.
According to CSG Director Police MGen. Leo Francisco, the aim is to ensure a safe Christmas season and New Year celebration; thus, they have begun inspecting fireworks stores.
Francisco personally visited a fireworks factory in Barangay Sampaloc, located in the town of San Rafael, Bulacan, to verify compliance with regulations.
The police official emphasized that the potential accidents and consequences of explosions in fireworks factories should not be taken lightly, necessitating reminders and inspections.
Francisco noted that the production of firecrackers and pailawas is currently in full swing, with many buyers expected to flock to these locations.
He urged the public to ensure that any fireworks they purchase are permitted and legal to avoid accidents.
