#MSLens | US envoy Carlson joins 2024 Belenismo in Tarlac

US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson attended the annual “Belenismo sa Tarlac” Festival on Saturday, 09 November 2024, to usher in the long Christmas season in the Philippines.

Carlson had fun taking photos and selfies at the event organized by the Tarlac Heritage Foundation. This year’s ‘Belenismo’ features 62 giant displays of the legendary ‘nativity scene.’

The annual tradition was launched 17 years ago by its founders Doña Isabel Cojuangco Suntay and her daughter, Dr. Isa Cojuangco Suntay.

It has since become a staple for residents and visitors alike in Tarlac every holiday season, showcasing the Central Luzon province as the “Belen Capital of the Philippines.”

Carlson expressed her joy at witnessing the unique talents of the Tarlaqueños through their intricate Belen creations.
