The Department of Tourism, Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority and Commission on Higher Education award a total of P19.25 million to 17 higher education institutions from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, whose innovative tourism proposals won national and regional titles in the Tourism Startup Challenge. A joint program of the three government agencies, the challenge is an annual nationwide competition among students enrolled in HEIs with innovative projects that can compete for funding under the Higher Education Development Fund.
