1 dead due to Typhoon Marce — NDRRMC

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday that one person died due to the impact of Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing).

In an 8 a.m. situational report, the NDRRMC reported that it has not yet identified the location of the reported fatality.

Additionally, one person remains missing in the Ilocos Region.

Typhoon Marce affected 261,787 individuals, or 76,622 families, across the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Of these, 26,803 people were displaced; 13,887 sought refuge in evacuation centers, while 12,916 found temporary shelter elsewhere.

The typhoon caused P25,398,600 worth of infrastructure damage in Cagayan Valley and led to the total destruction of 892 homes, with another 20,038 sustaining partial damage.

In terms of infrastructure, 29 roads and 11 bridges were impacted, rendering them impassable to motorists.

As of now, no local government unit has declared a state of calamity in the wake of Marce. The NDRRMC also reported that P16.1 million in aid has been provided to affected residents.

Typhoon Marce exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday after making two landfalls, with Cagayan province being severely impacted.
