The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted on Wednesday a simulated island assault exercise on Kota Island in the West Philippine Sea.
During the drill dubbed “Dagat-Langit-Lupa,” the BRP Ramon Alcaraz sailed toward Kota Island with its rigid hull inflatable boats brought the troops to the island’s beaches.
The soldiers carried out a mechanized assault to “reclaim the island” while the Philippine Air Force planes provided logistical support by dropping essential supplies, including food and equipment, to the troops securing the island.
AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. underscored the significance of the exercise in enhancing the country’s external defense capabilities.
“This exercise marks a significant step in strengthening our national defense capabilities and ensuring that we are prepared to defend our sovereignty and sovereign rights. Today, our forces demonstrate the unwavering commitment to protecting the West Philippine Sea and our nation’s future,” Brawner said.
