Government on high alert amid threat of Typhoon ‘Marce’—PBBM

As Typhoon Marce approaches, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. instructed all government agencies to implement comprehensive disaster-response protocols in preparation for the storm’s possible impact.

In a statement released on Wednesday, President Marcos placed agencies on “high alert” and reminded officials of their responsibilities. “You all know the drill,” he said.

“Set up a reliable communication system to quickly deliver advisories to the public. Early warnings are crucial—knowledge saves lives,” the Commander-in-Chief added.

President Marcos instructed continuous 24-hour monitoring of rivers, lakes, coastal areas, and other bodies of water.

“This has been my consistent reminder, and I will keep saying it: monitor our water systems closely,” he said.

Mr. Marcos also emphasized that rescue equipment and vehicles from both public and private sectors should be fully operational and ready for deployment.

He tasked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) to prepare for post-typhoon road clearing operations and to coordinate with private companies engaged in the government’s infrastructure projects.

To ensure rapid relief distribution, Mr. Marcos called for forward deployment of relief goods to secure storage locations near potentially affected areas. He extended his thanks in advance to medical personnel from public and private facilities who are ready to provide aid.

“Every life is valuable. Stay ready and take all necessary precautions,” the President said.
