The House Quad Committee on Friday reiterated its arrest order on former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and his wife, Mylah, for repeatedly ignoring their summons in the ongoing congressional hearing.
The Roque couple were earlier cited in contempt by members of the Quad Comm for their failure to comply with requests to provide documents related to their alleged business ties with illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Lead chairperson and Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers approved the motion to cite Mrs. Roque in contempt for skipping the House probe anew—the third time—since the Quad Comm launched its investigation into POGOs and other related issues.
“May I respectfully move, Mr. Chair, that because Madam Mylah Roque has been cited in contempt by this committee, may I move that we also issue an arrest order insofar as the person of Mrs. Mylah Roque is concerned?” co-chair Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop added, which Barbers also approved.
The House Quad Comm also has a standing arrest order on Mr. Roque, who was likewise cited in contempt over his refusal to appear in succeeding hearings.
The former presidential spokesperson deliberately ignored the hearings, which he claimed were politically motivated and denied allegations leveled against them.
