Actor-politician Francisco Domagoso, popularly known as Isko Moreno, is set to reclaim the top leadership post in the City of Manila when he files his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) under the Aksyon Demokratiko party on October 1.
Domagoso, who ran but lost in the 2022 presidential elections, will be running with Chi Atienza—daughter of former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza—as his vice mayor.
They will be challenging incumbent Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto for the city’s top two political offices in the 2025 local elections. Lacuna was Domagoso’s vice mayor when the latter became the 23rd mayor of Manila.
The returning Domagoso will be joined by his complete slate of councilors, including former Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Mocha Uson, and son Joaquin Domagoso.
The Lacuna-Servo tandem will banner the LAKAS-NUCD Manila chapter, which is the official umbrella party of the President.
Domagoso enjoys significant support from his fellow Manileños, according to the OCTA Research survey conducted from July 6-10, 2024. He reportedly garnered 74 percent of the votes way ahead of former colleague turned primary opponent Lacuna, who only got six percent.
According to the survey, if the elections would go down between Domagoso and Lacuna, the former would win by landslide potentially gaining 86 percent of the votes against the incumbent mayor, who would probably get only eight percent.
