SM, MESA sponsor Balanga food festival

SM City Bataan celebrated the richness of Filipino cuisine by hosting an exciting food festival in Balanga City in collaboration with MESA Philippines.

The event featured two exciting culinary creations; an oversize tinapa fried rice and a giant tinapa roll, both of which paid homage to Balanga’s famous smoked fish delicacy.

The centerpiece of the festival was the giant tinapa fried rice weighing 100 kilograms.

Prepared with steamed rice mixed with tinapa flakes, it was garnished with tomatoes, red salted eggs, and spring onions, creating a visually stunning and flavorful treat. Alongside this, the giant tinapa roll showcased a creative twist on traditional flavors, featuring smoky tinapang bangus combined with tomatoes, onions, and salted eggs, served with crispy kropecks.

The culinary event, led by executive chef John Rey Antonio of MESA Philippines, drew a crowd of 500 mall-goers who were treated to free taste tests of these unique dishes.
