Pets take center stage in Gen. Trias week-long gala fiesta celebration

PETS take center stage in this year’s celebration of the fiesta of General Trias City, Cavite on Sept. 29 to Oct. 5.

Highlighting the festivities in honor of their patron saint San Francisco de Malabon are the blessing for the pets locally known as Pabialahay and Grand Pasayo, Sept. 29 at the city plaza.

There will also be a pet parade at the Plaza Rizal followed by the pets blessing to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Ollie Genuino, parish priest of the historic St. Francis of Assisi.

Free pet vaccination for anti-rabies vaccine and a contest for the animals will be held at the city hall lobby at 9 a,m. to be conducted by the City Veterinary Office.

There will also be a pet Festival at Maple Grove on Centennial road, Barangay Tejero in the afternoon. Drive Thru Pet Blessing, Anti Rabies Vaccination Drive, Pet PAWshion show, Furry Find Fair, Pet Park and Obstacle, PAWS for a Photo, On-the-spot painting and Pack Walk and Pet Meetup along the stretch of Festival.

Marching bands from different localities will try to outdo one another, alongside a special showcase from General Trias’ very own local bands at “Grand Pasayo: Battle of Champions 2024” in Poblacion Area on Monday, 1 p.m., Sept. 30,

Twelve competing bands from across the region including Banda 12 San Juan Nepomuceno from Alfonso, Cavite;  Banda 16 San Juan Nepomuceno from Alfonso, Cavite; Las Piñas Band 91; and Banda Immaculada from Naic, Cavite.

Banda Kabataan 77 from Bailen; Banda Kabayan from Cabiao, Nueva Ecija; Dragons of Cabiao Youth Concert Band 98; Holy Rosary Youth Banda, rosario, Cavite; San Diego de Alcala Band of Pililla, Rizal; San Santiago Apostol Band 25 of Paete, Laguna; St. Joseph Band of Bailen; St Jude Band of Maragondon, Cavite all battling for the championship title, featuring their very own 7 host bands – St. Francis Band, Community Wind Ensemble, Banda Matanda, Santa Cecilia Band, Banda Kabataan, Sta. Veronica Band and Banda Malabon 2000.

Karakol ng Bayan on October 2 at 1 p.m. that will be held in the city proper attended by government officials along with Mayor Luis Ferrer IV after the 12 p.m. Mass.

October 4, Fiesta Day, Bishop Rey Evangelista of Diocese of Imus will lead the 9 a,m. Mass at the historic St. Francis Church and Free concert and fireworks display at the plaza at 8 p.m.  Grand Procession followed by Fireworks Display on the nightcap of Oc. 5.
