PISTON says 90K members join Day 1 of transport strike

Transport group PISTON said Monday at least 90,000 public utility vehicle (PUVs) drivers and operators joined Day 1 of its transport strike with Manibela, leaving many commuters stranded in the cities of Las Piñas, Quezon and Pasig.

PISTON and Manibela launched the two-day transport strike this week in protest of the government’s Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP). The groups posted photos and images of some passengers waiting to board PUVs in Metro Manila on Monday morning as a result of their mass rally.
