BACOOR CITY—The defending champion Perpetual Help-Bacoor Lady Strikers and the newcomer Quezon Tangerines will battle it out for the top spot in the first round of the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) women’s volleyball tournament on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Lady Strikers, composed of players from coach Sandy Rieta’s Perpetual Lady Altas, will face off against the Tangerines, primarily consisting of players from coach Rogelio Getigan Jr.’s College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers, at 2 p.m., with the winner securing the top position or a share of it in the first round.
Other matches scheduled for the day include Rizal against San Juan at 4 p.m. and Caloocan against Marikina at 6 p.m.
Quezon Province currently holds a dominant 7-0 record, while the Lady Strikers and Rizal are at 6-1. If Bacoor defeats Quezon and Rizal wins against San Juan, a three-way tie for the top spot would occur.
However, if the Tangerines upset the Strikers, they will claim sole possession of the lead with an 8-0 record.
