Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. leads the raid of two warehouses in Quezon City and Caloocan City on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, 2024. The strategy of the Illicit Trade Task Force of conducting a night raid turned out to be the right decision because the BIR seized 1.31 million packs of counterfeit and illicit cigarettes. The BIR estimates P838 million in tax liabilities against the illicit cigarette traders.
