THE Marawi Compensation Board (MCB) appealed to the Senate for additional personnel to expedite the distribution of aid to the victims of the Marawi siege.
In Tuesday’s budget hearing of the MCB, its chairperson Maisara Dandamun-Latiph sought an additional 51 plantilla positions. The MCB als needs P5 billion to P6 billion for four years.
Dandamun-Latiph noted that 3,000 beneficiaries, who were affected by the fighting to liberate Marawi from armed groups in 2017, are receiving aid. With more personnel, they can finish the distribution before the MCB is dissolved in 2028.
Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and Finance Subcommittee Chairperson Sen. Risa Hontiveros pledged to help the MCB get the support it needs.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Tuesday meanwhile vowed to challenge the intelligence funds of the country’s law enforcement agencies following an apparent intelligence failure related to the escape from the country of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo or Guo Hua Ping and cohorts, who left undetected.
