Guo can be deported even without extradition tready – PAOCC

Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo could still be deported to the Philippines even without an extradition treaty, according to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio on Wednesday explained that canceling Guo’s passport could trigger Interpol’s red notice, leading to her arrest and deportation by foreign authorities.

“So, once their passports are canceled, the main requirement for travel, which is the passport, will be gone for them. If that happens, it will trigger what we call a blue notice and a red notice from Interpol, and that would allow law enforcement agencies in that area to arrest them and send them back to the Philippines,” Casio said.

He emphasized the government will still push for the extradition of Guo once the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) cancels her passport.

“Let’s cancel her passport first. Once the passport is canceled, she will lose the right to travel anywhere, and the country she is in will hold her. If that happens, we might have to go through the extradition process. So, we’re currently working on that procedure,” Casio said.

The Office of the President has instructed the DFA and Department of Justice (DOJ) to proceed with the cancelation of Philippine passports belonging to Guo and her siblings.
