The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs on Saturday conducted activities for the enhancement of its reserve force at Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) in Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City.
WestMinCom stated that one of the annual activities aimed at enhancing the reserve force is the Regional Reservists Convention (RRC) in coordination with WestMinCom’s Office of Assistant Chief of United Command Staff of Reservist and Retirees Affairs (ACUCS for RRA).
“As the country endures a lot of calamities due to climate change, the military is fully engaged in strengthening the capability of the reserve force,” said WestMinCom Public Information Office Acting Chief Major Orlando Aylon.
The activity offered participants valuable insights into community engagement, civil-military relations, cyber security, Republic Act 7077, and the West Philippine Sea issue.
Subject matter experts were also invited to lead discussions on these topics.
Meanwhile, a Cascading of the AFP Reserve Force Development (AFP RFD) Strategy 2023-2028 was also conducted on August 16 which was focused on the presentation of the implementing plan and assessment plan of AFP RFD Strategy 2023-2028.
WestMinCom Chief, Lt. Gen. William Gonzales, commended the Office of the ACUCS for RRA for facilitating the conduct of the RRC and the cascading of AFP RFD Strategy 2023-2028.
“Our reservists play crucial roles when crisis or calamities hit. Hence, we continuously conduct activities focusing on building relationships, disaster preparedness, as well as collaboration and coordination.”
