The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday reported a 3.29 percent decrease in total crime incidents in the country during the first half of the year.

At the House of Representatives appropriations committee hearing on the DILG’s proposed PHP 281.3 billion budget for 2025, DILG Undersecretary Marlo Iringan credited the decline in crime incidents this year to the “ongoing and robust anti-criminality measures” implemented by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Iringan highlighted that crime solution and clearance efficiency have also seen significant improvements, with the PNP sustaining a crime efficiency rate of more than 94 percent and crime solution efficiency of more than 87 percent.

Iringan noted that the DILG’s proposed PHP281.3 billion budget for 2025 represents a 6 percent increase over this year’s allocation of PHP265.5 billion.

“The DILG assures this committee that this will be used to fully support the priorities and thrusts of our government,” he said.
