Meat inspector sued for grave threat, libel

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has expressed support for a broadcaster in Aklan who filed harassment charges against a municipal meat inspector.

Apolonio Zaraspe, chairman of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) in Aklan and station manager of Energy FM Aklan, sued municipal meat inspector Charie Indelible, for alleged grave threats and cyber libel.

The case is under review by the Office of the City Prosecutor in Manila. The threats were allegedly made on Indelible’s radio program and Facebook page.

An assessment by the Aklan Provincial Police Office noted that Zaraspe and his family were at risk.

Kalibo Mayor Juris Sucro noted that Indelible’s verbal assaults against Zaraspe occurred outside his official duties as a meat inspector and. The mayor also confirmed that Indelible’s radio program was outside the scope of his official role.

The KBP has found that Indelible’s broadcasting license had expired and is conducting a separate investigation.
