THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has logged close to 66 million voters, and expects more to register with still less than two months before the list-up ends.

Comelec chairman George Garcia said presently, there are 65,943,899 registered voters nationwide, with more than five million more expected to show up to be registered.

He said the total number of new applications surpassed the five million mark broken down as 2,590,813 female and 2,421,002 are male.

The poll chief expected the number to increase since the deadline is still on September 30, 2024.

Calabarzon consisting of the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon had the most number of new voters at 833,812, followed by the National Capital Region (Metro Manila) with 669,372.

Meanwhile, the total number of deactivated voters reached 5,269,292 voters, while the total number of deleted voters was 579,720.

He said the deletion was due to imprisonment, having committed crimes involving disloyalty to duly constituted government or crime against national security, failure to vote in two succeeding polls, and loss of Filipino citizenship.

Eligible voters can register at any office of the election officer or satellite registration office in their locality from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
