Filipina boxer Aira Villegas narrowly defeated France’s Wassila Lkhadiri in the quarterfinals of the women’s boxing -50kg event by split decision in the 2024 Paris Olympics early Sunday morning (Manila time).
The judges scored the match 3-2 in favor of Villegas. This earns her a trip to the semifinals where she will be facing Turkish fighter Buse Naz Cakiroglu, who defeated Finland’s Pihla Kaivo-oja in an earlier match.

The semifinals match between Villegas and Cakiroglu is scheduled on Wednesday, August 7 at 4:18 a.m. Philippine time.
