As part of its mission to uphold the well-being of biker partners, homegrown motorcycle taxi (MC Taxi) firm Angkas, led by chief executive officer George Royeca, held welfare checks in several Metro Manila cities on July 25. They offered much needed support, particularly to bikers hindered by Typhoon Carina from conducting their usual operations on the roads.
With a strong commitment to the welfare of its biker community, Angkas extended aid to over 1000 biker families within Pasay, Manila, and Taguig cities. The support included distribution of rain gear, financial aid, grocery supplies, and Xteer engine oil to the riders. Beyond distributing necessities, Royeca also facilitated wellness forums to engage with the bikers directly, emphasizing the company’s support and solidarity.
Royeca underscored his empathy and concern for the biker partners, inspiring the assistance effort. “Our bikers are part of our family. It’s crucial to look after our family, particularly through challenging periods like what we’re experiencing. I hope that our actions have offered them some relief and encouragement to recover from the aftermath of Typhoon Carina,” he articulated.
Moreover, Angkas is offering complimentary motorcycle repairs at the Tagumpay Center for those whose bikes suffered damage due to the rain. The firm also implemented Signal Zero, an initiative that reduces Angkas commissions to zero percent . This allowed bikers to keep the entirety of a day’s fares, mitigating the financial impact of the storm.
A member of the biker fleet expressed gratitude towards Angkas and Royeca, stating, “Salamat, Boss George. Talagang ramdam naming mga biker ang pagmamahal at pag-alaga niyo sa amin. Angkas lang malakas.” This sentiment was widely shared among the biker partners on social media, reflecting their appreciation for the company’s efforts and Royeca’s leadership.
