PDLs no more

Some of the 784 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), commonly known as prisoners, from various jails under the Bureau of Corrections, including a handful from the Correctional Institution for Women, flash the thumb up sign moments after receiving their certificates of discharge in a ceremony at the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. The event, held in conjunction with the global observance of Nelson Mandela International Day, was attended by Justice Undersecretary Deo Marco, BuCor director general Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta, and South African Ambassador to Manila Ntombizodwa Radebe Netshitenzhe.
