The Philippines’ maritime history museum, Museo Del Galeon, located within the SM Mall of Asia, became an unexpected runway for celebrating modern Filipino fashion. TernoCon 2024, a highly anticipated event, transformed the museum’s halls into an effulgent stage where talented designers presented stunning terno creations, uniting a community passionate about showcasing Filipino fashion heritage through this iconic garment.
Titled “KKK: Kasarinlan, Kultura, Kasuotan,” the fashion show commemorated the 126th year of Philippine Independence, showcasing our culture’s rich history through the iconic terno. The event was made possible with the collaboration of Bench/ lifestyle + clothing and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
Among the notable attendees were Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Vice Chair Carissa Coscolluela, Bench/ lifestyle + clothing founder Ben Chan, First Lady of the Philippines Liza Araneta-Marcos, SM Markets Chairman Herbert Sy, CCP President Kaye Tinga, and other influential figures from various industries.
Three trailblazing fashion designers – Jojie Lloren, Cary Santiago, and Jaggy Glarino – stunned the audience with collections that paid homage to Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Each collection was a personal tribute, weaving stories of our heritage into every piece.
Jojie Lloren’s collection “A Lullaby for my Mother” featured 12 elegant ternos dedicated to his beloved mother and the Motherland.
Cary Santiago’s “Ikonograpiya” celebrated iconic Filipino symbols like the Sampaguita, the jeepney, and sorbetes (Filipino ice cream) with 12 ternos inspired by the vivid colors of the national flag.
Jaggy Glarino’s “Lemlunay,” drawing from Mindanao’s rich cultural heritage, enchanted the audience with nine ternos and three barongs.
The atmosphere at Ternocon 2024 was filled with a sense of elegance and national pride. Guests adorned in their finest ternos, barongs, and modern Filipiniana interpretations turned the event into a stunning display of Filipino beauty.
