The Philippine Atmospheric Geographical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) officially announced on Friday that extreme heat due to the El Niño weather phenomenon is over.
PAGASA gave this assessment as the conditions in the tropical Pacific have returned to El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral levels.
Moreover, a transition from ENSO-neutral to La Niña remains likely (about 69 percent chance) by July-August-September 2024 season, according to the state weather bureau.
In its daily weather forecast issued at early Friday morning, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon is affecting the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
The rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
