TOP brass of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have joined the United States Embassy officials and other dignitaries in a requiem ceremony at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial on Sunday, May 26.

The event honored the valor and supreme sacrifice of the American and Filipino soldiers who fought together during World War II in the Philippines.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. led the Philippine military delegation in saluting the fallen heroes.

The ceremony included wreaths-laying, a moment of silence, a 21-gun salute, and playing of the Taps that echoed the enduring alliance between the United States and the Philippine warriors of democracy.

The Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, the largest of its kind in the Pacific, is the final resting place for over 17,000 American and Filipino soldiers who fought side by side in the war.  It stands as a powerful symbol of the deep and historic ties between the two nations.
