President Marcos received eight new non-resident ambassadors to Malacañang on Wednesday, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The ambassadors presenting their credentials included Ibrahim Bileh Doualeh (Djibouti), Jagdishwar Goburdhun (Mauritius), Farhod Arziev (Uzbekistan), Hassan Abdelsalam Omer (Sudan), Major General Gotsileene Morake (Botswana), Mait Martinson (Estonia), Morecome Mumba (Zambia), and Abdelhafid Bounour (Algeria).
Welcoming Estonian Ambassador Mait Martinson, President Marcos expressed hopes to continue security discussions, highlighting the potential for collaboration in digital development and cybersecurity.
Ambassador Martinson described the relationship as a “positive renaissance” between the two nations.
President Marcos also welcomed Ambassador Jagdishwar Goburdhun of Mauritius, expressing hopes to explore new partnerships.
Ambassador Goburdhun suggested collaborations in health and agriculture.
Addressing Sudanese Ambassador Hassan Abdelsalam Omer, President Marcos anticipated a closer relationship. Sudan and the Philippines have maintained diplomatic relations since 1976.
President Marcos thanked Djibouti’s Ambassador Ibrahim Bileh Doualeh for aiding Filipino seafarers, expressing a desire to strengthen their relationship further.
