PH joins disaster risk workshop in Thailand

As the Philippines continues to explore the disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) best practices of other countries, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) participated in a learning visit organized by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) on April 3 to 4, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.

During the two-day seminar, lectures on the ADPC’s technical and analytical capacities, its large scale of information, tools, and data, as well as networks in governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector; and Thailand’s disaster management system focusing on DRR mainstreaming, integrated emergency management, disaster reconstruction and recovery with “Build Back Better” approach, its international cooperation, and the guidelines for early warning systems were provided to the delegation led by Civil Defense administrator, Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.

Nepomuceno thanked the ADPC and Thailand for the opportunity to explore their good practices that might help the Philippines in the advancement of its DRRM. 

The delegation identified future priorities and opportunities for collaboration with ADPC and its networks.

The Philippines is one of the ADPC’s Board of Trustees.
