Horror film “Five Nights at Freddy’s” starring “The Hunger Games” franchise star Josh Hutcherson has been confirmed to have its sequel in the works.
During CinemaCon 2024, Universal Pictures President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr announced that the studio and film production company Blumhouse Productions were currently working on “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.”
While no further details regarding the project such as plot details and returning cast members were revealed, Orr said that the studio was aiming to release the film in Fall 2025.
The hit horror film “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is based on the video game and book series of the same name by Scott Cawthon. It follows the story of a security guard for an abandoned pizzeria who discovers animatronics that are possessed by the spirits of murdered children.
The film earned $297 million at the box office while only having a budget of $20 million, making it Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film.
CinemaCon is an annual convention for owners of movie theaters that features upcoming films, premiere feature screenings, actors, producers, and directors. This year, the convention is held at the resort hotel Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
