Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Undersecretary for Railways Jeremy Regino and former undersecretary Art Valdez inspect Tunnel Boring Machine No. 4 for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) on March 7, 2024. The machine’s initial drive covers four north stations at Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora, North Ave. and East Valenzuela. The DOTr aims to complete tunneling up to Tandang Sora within 12 months. Now at 40-percent progress, the project aims to reduce travel time from Quezon City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport from 70 to 35 minutes, easing Metro Manila’s traffic congestion, and serving 519,000 daily passengers.
