Korean idol V of global supergroup BTS finally dropped on Friday, March 15, the music video of his much-anticipated single “FRI(END)S”.
Described as a pop-soul R&B love song, the track delved into the complexities of emotions when a friendship blossoms into something more.
The music video showed V was feeling isolated and getting bitter as he was surrounded by sweet couples.
As the video continued, V encountered an accident and woke up having his significant other beside him.
Unlike the first half of the music video, the group’s vocalist was having his time with his lover, and being in love as they were surrounded by couples who were in arguments and in between fights. As he crossed the street, V ended up being hit again by a car.
The over four-minute clip wrapped up with V waking up beside another version of himself.
In an earlier interview, V discussed the reason why he chose to release the song.
“’FRI(END)S’ is a song I prepared because I was looking for a song that I could share with my fans and I really wanted to record it,” shared V.
“It’s a song full of charm, so ARMY also likes it. I think you will give it to me. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content,” he added.
“FRI(END)S” came after the success of V’s album, “Layover”, which was released in September 2023.
Currently, the singer is serving his military service as part of South Korea’s mandatory enlistment.
