The P488.5-billion Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) receives a boost as Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista (second from left) welcomes Finance Secretary Ralph Recto (third from left) at Valenzuela Depot on Feb. 26, 2024. Recto reaffirmed the Department of Finance’s commitment to securing funding for the third tranche of MMSP in March as Bautista reveals an overall project implementation progress rate of 40 percent as of January 2024. The MMSP is a 33-kilometer railway with 17 stations that will connect Valenzuela City to Pasay City with a spur line to Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). With the two officials are (from left) DOTr Undersecretary for railways Jeremy Regino and Japan International Cooperation Agency Chief Representative to the Philippines Takema Sakamoto.
