SAN MARIANO, Isabela – Rep. Ed Christopher S. Go of Isabela’s 2nd district provided full support to a bloodletting activity along with Mayor Edgar S. Go and Board Member Ed Christian S. Go on Feb. 9 at the Mayor Deodoro C. Go Community Center Zone 3 here.
The event was held in collaboration with the Southern Isabela Medical Center in Santiago City and the Local Government Unit of San Mariano.
Congressman Go, also a staunch advocate for health, said the initiative aims to guarantee an adequate supply of safe blood and increase public awareness of the humanitarian nature of voluntary blood donation.
“Through this program, it can save the lives of those who need blood during emergencies. Their unselfish deed will go a long way towards saving lives, and every drop of blood is valuable,” Rep Go stressed.
Board Member Go said that a resoundingly positive response from the residents serves as evidence of GO SERBISYO’s compassion for the community.
“Humane acts such as blood donation bring people in a community together because they enable people to help one another,” BM Go said.
As for the bloodletting event, Mayor Go stated it has been a part of their dedication to help save the lives of individuals who are ill or injured.
Given that giving blood saves lives, “blood donation is one of the most rewarding forms of service,” Mayor Go emphasized.
San Mariano has regularly won SANDUGO accolades under Mayor Go’s leadership.
The SANDUGO Award is the highest recognition given to local officials that support the voluntary blood donation program, given to local government representatives in appreciation of their proactive efforts to guarantee that the country has an adequate and secure supply of blood.
The bloodletting ceremony is in its second year, according to Naguilian Sangguniang Bayan member Julie Reyes, District President of GO Wow.
GO Wow officers and members who are eager to donate blood were present, she said.
Reyes expressed gratitude to the Southern Isabela Medical Center, the government of San Mariano, Rep. Ed Christopher S. Go, Board Member Ed Christian S. Go, Mayor Edgar S. Go, and GO SERBISYO for their support.
According to Pot Viernes, the municipal blood coordinator and head nurse of San Mariano, 155 bags of blood were successfully collected from blood donors.
“It has raised awareness of the value of blood donation, and longer lifespans have been associated with these positive emotions,” she said.
Officials and residents of the six municipalities that make up Isabela’s District 2, TODA, members of Sangguniang Kabataan, barangay officials, and officers and members of GO WOW, among others, all fully supported this life-saving activity.
According to some of the donors, people usually give blood “because it feels good to help others.”
“Additionally, selflessness and volunteerism have been linked to positive health outcomes; this is how blood donors feel after each donation,” Rep. Go said.
