THE Quezon City government has partnered with the Consultancy Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) to launch a program to help street vendors level up their entrepreneurship skills.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the partnership to help educate vendors is not only first in the Philippines, but also in Southeast Asia.

There will be a first batch of 49 public vendors, 60 hawker vendors and 60 temporary vendors to participate in the six-month training program of the Vendor Business School.

Aside from teaching the vendors on how to improve themselves, they will be trained on how to ensure that the food they sell is safe and healthier, and that they follow the proper hygiene and sanitation.

Belmonte said the participants will be taught to adapt with climate change and make them cope with the changing times.

“Moreover, we will teach them the proper calorie content,” she added.

Belmonte earlier launched Palengke QR Code, a cashless transaction in the public markets.

“The participants will really learn from this program,” she said.
