Presidential appointees are being placed under review to ensure that qualified employees and officials will remain in the government, the Presidential Communications Office confirmed Monday.

‘’This is a directive to all presidential appointees, including those appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., as part of performance review and to ensure continuing qualifications to remain in office,’’ PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil told Palace reporters.

She said this regarding a memorandum circulating on social media, dated Feb. 2, about the submission of updated documentary requirements by presidential appointees, supposedly targeting appointees who took office during the Duterte administration.

The memo is addressed to all heads of departments, agencies, offices, and instrumentalities, including Government-Owned-or-Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), Government Financial Institutions (GFIs), and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and all presidential appointees appointed before Feb. 1.

They were directed to submit their updated personal data sheet and clearances from the Civil Service Commission, National Bureau of Investigation, Office of the Ombudsman, and Sandiganbayan.

The heads of the offices should ensure compliance of the presidential appointees, the memo added.

All requirements must be submitted to the Presidential Management Staff within issuance of the memorandum, it said.
