Marcos leaves for two-day Vietnam visit

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leaves today for a two-day official visit to Vietnam where he is expected to sign maritime cooperation and rice trade agreements.

Vice President Sara Duterte will be the country’s caretaker, according to Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil.

 Upon arrival, Mr. Marcos is scheduled to meet with Vingroup, a leading conglomerate in Vietnam, and members of the Filipino community. 

On Tuesday, the President will call on Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and hold a working luncheon with Vietnamese leaders and representatives of the country’s business community. 

Aside from the maritime cooperation agreement, Mr. Marcos is expected to sign a rice trade pact with Vietnam. 

Mr. Marcos will be accompanied by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo and members of his economic team.
