Visits to different places in Mindanao has allowed the Philippine Sports Commission to renew its commitment to expand the agency’s reach on its grassroots and talent identification program.

This month, the government sports agency is resuming its initiative of improving its satellite offices and open its doors for collaboration with regional coordinators, coaches and trainers.

“This year is an opportunity for us to expand our reach in Mindanao by reinforcing our grassroots sports efforts, and be the government’s instruments of peace, through sports,” said PSC chairman Richard Bachmann.

Last week, Bachmann was in Davao City, when he hosted a dialogue with various sports coordinators in the region at the PSC’s Mindanao Office.

Bachmann also went to Cotabato City and to Marawi City to forge agreements with the local government units.

“Gone are the days that our next generation athletes are only sourced from one region. A stronger collaboration with our stakeholders in every region will propel our grassroots development,” added Bachmann.

While in Cotabato City, Bachman was with Regional Coordinator for Mindanao Coach Noli Ayo and Chief of Staff Din-Din Urquiaga, as they met with the officials of the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) for a coordination meeting.

The meeting was meant to strengthen the linkage of the two sides, following the renewal of a Memorandum of Agreement last December.

Bachmann also attended a MOA signing agreement between the Bangsa Moro Sports Commission and the Mindanao State University in Marawi City and spoke at the Bangsamoro Athletes’ Convocation.

Later, Bachman made a courtesy visit to Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. in Oroquieta City.
